No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
