Online High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

by Cheyenne on April 26th, 2016

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players in the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing web poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
