Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
