Online Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

by Cheyenne on March 11th, 2021

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While playing net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
