Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

by Cheyenne on March 13th, 2022

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve final poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen playing web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
