Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

by Cheyenne on December 16th, 2022

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
