Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

by Cheyenne on September 1st, 2023

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest gamblers anywhere in the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
