Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
