No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
