Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
